7 Layer Dip
7 layer dip can be made all year, but is especially good when the raw veggies are in season, locally.
If they aren't, consider substituting or making this a 5 layer dip instead.
How mild or spicy you make this depends mainly on the type of salsa used.
Ingredients
- Refried beans
- Jack or cheddar cheese
- Salsa
- Sour cream
- Avocado
- Red pepper (sweet)
- Black olives
Easy Prep Steps
- Spread about a half-inch layer of refritos (refried beans) in a bowl or shallow pan.
- Cover with a layer of grated cheese.
- Warm the dish in the microwave, regular oven, or a solar oven.
- Add the salsa, sour cream and avocado (I prefer to mix them, as if I were making my creamy guacamole ).
- Sprinkle on the diced red pepper and slices of black olives.
- Serve with tortilla chips.
